tanaRi events’ wedding: Prutha and Rishi

By tanarievents 23 Aug, 2017

Prutha and Rishi, tanaRi events’ most unique and out of the box couple, wanted a wedding that reflected their personality: eccentric and creative. Something non traditional was the goal, and Prutha being an architect herself, had ideas to add twists to the wedding. The Hudson Hotel, an “energetic, social hub filled with urban adventure and daredevil design”, was the perfect unique venue for the atypical couple! From skull cake by City Sweets to glass head table decor to matching skull nails, read more below as we ask our bride Prutha on their love story journey all the way up to the wedding!

Q: How did the two of you meet?

A: “We met online on a dating website. Unlike most messages from guys on dating websites, Rishi wrote a very thoughtful message that included a link to his website which had all of his artwork. Being creative myself (Prutha), I had been sick of meeting people who pretended to be true art lovers. Rishi’s work was so impressive and slightly dark, like my style, that I had to reply. I sent him a link to my own eccentric fashion blog and ended my message with “Here’s a link to my website. If it doesn’t freak you out, I think we should get married”. After going offline, the rest is history.”

Q: What was your first impressions of him?

A: “My first impression of him that he was a really sweet guy, soulful, creative, slightly naive, beautiful and very very crazy. I was not wrong about any of it”.

Q: What do you both love the most about each other?

A: “Our creativity.”

Q: How was the proposal?

A: “Our proposal was not planned extravagant show; it was actually very non-memorable, unplanned but definitely a surprise. We had only been dating 6-8 months at the time, but I decided to join Rishi’s family in North Carolina for thanksgiving. While there, his mom cornered me one day when he wasn’t around and expressed that she loved us together and would love to see us get married. As I was completely taken aback, I told Rishi about it on our way back. He was completely embarrassed as he even warned his mom before coming. He kept apologizing, but then said “Don’t get me wrong, I do want to marry you and would love nothing more, but I wanted to ask you myself. But now that it is out there, will you?” All this while still driving. I said yes, but we still waited a good year and a half before the actual wedding!”

Q: What inspired the theme for your wedding?

A: “We didn’t have a theme per se, but rather a lot of colors and elements that were unique to Rishi and I. The glass heads for center pieces and the skull head cake was a creative element we wanted inspired by the Day of the Dead. My favorite fashion designer is also Manish Arora. I always had this vision to wear something designed by him, as both of our personal aesthetics matched.”

Q: What was your favorite wedding decoration?

A: “The glass face heads that we used on each farm table as a center piece! We added flowers inside them to give it a more whimsical look, and they were placed on a green glass runner on wooden farm tables surrounded by other smaller vases with colorful flowers. Our flower arrange vendor (Cress Florals) was amazing; highly recommend! She truly brought my vision to life and made it an art piece.”

Q: What was your favorite moment from the wedding?

A: “At the end of the night, our band (Silver Arrow Band) played the closing song of Saturday Night Live on Rishi’s request. The saxophonist had learnt the song just for us, and did such a remarkable job that the whole crowd stopped to watch him perform. Ending the night on a high musical note was the best!
